SOLUTIONS IS A USEFUL BOOK for novice therapists who wish to be flexible in their responses to families, couples and individual clients. All the popular techniques of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) are described and illustrated with transcripts from the author's own practice. If I have a quibble with the book, it is that the author makes the skills she uses seem so simple to execute and so guaranteed to succeed. For well over ten years Leslie Cameron-Bandler has been reining her skills. These include rapport building, information gathering, changing personal history (desensitisation), context and symptom reframing, six-step reframing with individuals and with couples, metaphor work and more. The application for those techniques are much wider than the title suggests. Leslie Cameron-Bandler is an eloquent writer and her book is a delightful and useful simplification of these patterns of individual and couples psychotherapy.
